05Questions
What is good music for summer camp?
It depends on the time of day. Camps need bright, gentle songs for wake-up, upbeat ones for meals and crafts, steady ones for hikes, quiet ones for rest hour and soft, warm ones for the campfire and lights-out. The camp map here has a playlist for each of those spots, all lofi by Purrple Cat.
What music plays at reveille?
Traditionally a bugle. For a gentler wake-up, the Reveille playlist has soft, sunny songs like Morning Dew and It’s Going to Be a Good Day, so the cabin wakes up slowly.
What is the Day at Camp schedule?
A full camp day in songs: two songs from every spot in schedule order, from reveille at 7:00 to the stargazing dock at lights-out. That’s about an hour of music, and you can reshuffle it for a new day.
How do the camp badges work?
Listen to a song from a camp spot for 30 seconds and you earn that spot’s badge sticker: Early Bird, Lake Swimmer, Trail Blazer, Stargazer and the rest. There are 8 to collect. They’re saved only in your own browser, with no account.
Is the music clean and safe for kids?
Yes. The music is mostly instrumental, so there are no lyrics to check. The Memories EP and the single Please Hold Me have vocals, and those songs are marked “vocals” in every list.
Can our camp use this music in a recap video or slideshow?
Yes. Every song is a Purrple Cat Self Release, free under CC BY 4.0 on social media and livestreams with the credit “Music by Purrple Cat”. Never re-upload the songs to music streaming services, and never register them in Content ID. Purrple Cat Self Releases are never in Content ID, so camp videos stay claim-free. The recap video kit on the About page builds a soundtrack that fits your slideshow length.
Can we play it at camp with no signal?
Yes. Every playlist page has an MP3 download for each song and an M3U file, so you can load a speaker or phone before you leave for camp.
Are these singalong camp songs?
No. These are calm lofi backgrounds for the parts of camp where nobody is singing: wake-up, meals, rest hour, crafts, the bus ride and lights-out. Keep your songbook for the campfire singalong.
